Encouraged by colleagues, potential clients and family, Marilyn launched Taylor Training & Development shortly after completing graduate school in 1991. Initially her circumference was quite small, as she sought to combine the needs of her young family with local training and development needs. Ultimately the geographically close but diverse base of clients gave way to a larger circumference of well –developed clients, particularly in manufacturing.
Now a 3rd generation textiles worker, Marilyn followed two sets of grandparents and her father into the world of textile manufacturing. From hands on training programs like 5S to facilitating corporate strategy sessions, leadership development became the focus. With a keen interest in organizational development, other longtime commitments grew to include Leadership Davidson County and the LEADS program developed for the City of Lexington, NC.
Corporate coaching was added to the list of select services in 2004. Her preferred method of coaching is called Clarity5 Now. This is based on a suite of products and services called the Results System™, and are available because of her Boston-based partnership and collaboration with ThoughtAction LLC, who distributes these products. This coaching method now holds an essential place in TaylorTrain work.
With a degree in Math and Business from Wake Forest University, Amy brings an objective and detailed eye to TT products and services. She worked for an Investment Counselling Firm for 10 years before moving to Switzerland with her husband. She gained a greater love and appreciation for the diversity of people and cultures through her year in Geneva, her travels to over 40 countries, and numerous mission trips to Central and South America. It was on a mission trip in Belize where she first met and worked with Marilyn Taylor who was training school administrators on the Myers Briggs type assessment. She also worked as a conference coordinator through Wake Forest Baptist Hospitals for 10 years before moving back to her hometown of Lexington. Susan brings leadership and operational experience including 20 years of human resources, training, and development experience to TaylorTrain. Susan has a passion for making leaders lives easier through creation, implementation, and refinement with a people, project, and organizational focus.
Susan earned her Bachelor of Business Administration at Catawba College and Master of Science in Human Resources at Western Carolina University. She holds several certifications including Professional in Human Resources and SHRM Certified Professional and has been recognized with multiple awards during her career.
Described by colleagues as embodying professionalism, ‘pushing the envelope’ to benefit all, fair to all, a natural leader and teacher, and an ultimate continual learner. Purposeful, efficient, and logical with the ability to encourage others to feel comfortable engaging, conversing, and collaborating.
Elena Hackney has twenty plus years of experience in Learning and Development with a specific focus on leadership and management development. Her overall philosophy is that training should be engaging for the learner.
Elena has used this philosophy during her training roles as training manager and internal consultant in banking, education, healthcare, government, and call center environments. She thoroughly enjoys sharing her passion for adult learning, creating engaging training, designing meaningful curriculum, and mentoring new trainers.
As a lifelong learner, Elena holds a master’s degree in English/Education and a second master’s degree in Training and Development. Elena is also a certified Myers-Briggs facilitator and certified Results System coach.
